Boy Scouts Learning to DiveOn the trail to Eagle, scouts have lots of opportunities to explore the outdoor world and develop stronger global citizenship. Here at One World Dive & Travel, we support that mission. With both merit badge counselors and scoutmasters on our staff—with over ten years of experience volunteering for Denver Area Council—no shop in Colorado has more insider knowledge on helping your Scouts discover the world of SCUBA diving.

The BSA SCUBA Merit Badge is a great way for you and your troop to develop a lifelong hobby of adventure, physical fitness, environmental awareness and better global citizenship. Our on-staff merit badge counselor and instructors can help you and your troop, patrol or crew complete both your SCUBA certification and all the requirements you need for the Merit Badge.

The Merit Badge Requirements are simple. Do the following:

  1. First aid pre-requirements
    1. Show that you know first aid for specified injuries that may occur in conjunction with SCUBA diving
    2. Understand and demonstrate a knowledge of CPR including proper technique. Merit Badge
  2. Earn the Swimming merit badge.
  3. Discuss the Scuba Diver's Code with your merit badge counselor, and explain the importance of each guideline to a scuba diver's safety.
  4. Earn an Open Water Diver Certification.
  5. Explain what an ecosystem is, and describe four aquatic ecosystems a diver might experience.
  6. Find out about three career opportunities in the scuba industry. Pick one and find out the education, training, and experience required for this profession. Discuss this with your counselor and explain why this profession might interest you.
  7. After completing requirements 1 & 2, contact us to get your troop signed up for our Merit Badge program and we can help you complete the rest.
