Tell us your origin story!
I got into recreational diving in Houston, Texas around 1981 at the urging of my former college roommate. For several years, I really didn't dive that much until I moved to the UK in the mid-80's. There, I started diving with the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) in Aberdeen, Scotland and eventually progressed to technical diving. It was only later that I returned to recreational diving and completed my PADI Dive Master course in Perth, Australia. My original intent was simply to become a dive guide with a local dive shop in Perth. The experience, however, really whetted my appetite to complete the PADI Open Water Instructor which I did with OWTD in early 2015.
What caused you to make the leap from amateur to dive professional?
My original intent was simply to become a dive guide with a local dive shop in Perth. The experience, however, really whetted my appetite to complete the PADI Open Water Instructor which I did with OWTD in early 2015.
Favorite dive destination?
Indonesia and, in particular, the Raja Ampat area. Closer to home, I really love Bonaire and Little Cayman.
What is your “must have” piece of dive equipment?
ScubaPro G2 wrist computer. I love its ease of use and functionality. It has a bright and easy-to-read screen.
Favorite non-diving activity?
Traveling. My wife and I are quite adventuresome and love to travel to places that are off the beaten track.
Any advice you’d like to offer divers new and old?
The best advice I can offer is try as many different dive destinations as you can and don't forget to practice safe diving practices on every dive.
